To celebrate International Women's day, we caught up with a number of Women within Digme....

Meet Martina, Martina recently took a leap and changed the direction of her career, more below!

1: Tell us a bit more about your role at Digme

I am one of the Digme Ride Instructors. I strategically plan my rides to make them as engaging, challenging but achievable and most of all fun to enjoy.
I create banging playlists to go along with each ride motivating riders taking them to places mentally and physically they may not be able to do outside of class.
I ensure everyone knows what they are doing at all times, and rides safely with the correct form and technique to prevent any potential injury.

2: What gives you the most job satisfaction?

I absolutely love my job because of the determination of those that show up everyday not just for me but for themselves. Seeing someone show up, work hard and be in full control. Taking them to their greatness gives me much joy and being a part of their journey whether mentally or physically.

3: What has been the proudest moment of your career so far?

Deciding to turn my career around, completing my qualifications in Level 2 & 3 PT, and investing more in myself and being able to share that with those who cross my path.

4: What were your ambitions growing up and did you see any barriers of getting where you wanted to be?

Initially I wanted to work in travel, I love traveling and exploring new places different cultures and meeting different people learning about their way of life. However life doesn’t always pan out the way you want and sometimes we get thrown a curve ball and make a choice to take a different route… so I went into sales!

5: What has been your experience of living through the pandemic?

The pandemic really showed me a lot, that I needed to take time out for myself, be present at times and also it brought out a more creative side. Creative in a sense where I started thinking okay what am I good at and how can I share this.
It’s also showed me how structure is important for me, and it may not be for everyone but for me breaking my day up starting my morning with exercises, doing a little work for the first part of the morning then going for a walk before lunch and then perhaps afternoon may be reorganising my wardrobe (I’m sure we all reorganised something in our house lol)

6: You recently moved towards becoming a group exercise instructor. Talk us through your background prior to this.

So I had been in sales for around 10 years working for Coca Cola and one of the world luxury goods company Kering. Building up indépendant business negotiating and helping support increase sell in and sell out of different products. I am 38 years of age and I kept thinking I am too old and who am I to consider becoming a fitness instructor in a world of so many other amazing people. I have always had a love of fitness and when the second pandemic hit the opportunity came to take that leap… and I did and I am finding my place and my own lane.

7. What is one of your favourite female quotes?

Maya Angelou once said

‘My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style’
